Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday that the Iraqi government opposed the possibility of US President Donald Trump’s decision to transfer the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and warned of the consequences of this decision.
Abadi’s comments come at a weekly news conference amid a series of mounting voices warning that the move would provoke unrest.
A senior US official told Reuters last week that Trump was also likely to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
