Two months of Ramadan in one year.. When will this event be repeatedShafaq News/ It is known that the date of the month of Ramadan according to the Gregorian calendar is not fixed annually, because it follows the Hijri calendar, and it changes continuously for several days, due to the difference between them.

In this regard, astronomers and specialists say that in the year 2030, Muslims will fast Ramadan twice, as it will be repeated at the beginning and end of the year.

The year in which believers fast Ramadan twice is called the “Holy Year.”

According to the Gregorian calendar and astronomical calculations, Ramadan may fall twice in 2030, the first on January 5, in the Hijri year 1451, and the second on December 26, in the Hijri year 1452.

The total number of fasting days during 2030 may be as follows: 36 days in total, 30 at the beginning of the year, and 6 at the end.

It is worth noting that the Hijri calendar is based on the moon and the number of days in the year is 354 days, and the Gregorian calendar is based on the sun and the number of days in the year is 365 days, and the difference between them is 11 days. Therefore, the date of Ramadan differs every year in the Gregorian calendar.

The timing of Ramadan changes, and Muslims may fast in the four seasons: fall, winter, spring, and summer.

It is noteworthy that the Gregorian year in which Ramadan occurs twice occurs every 33 years.

Most Islamic countries, led by Saudi Arabia, resort to observing the Ramadan crescent with the naked eye at the end of Shaaban to announce the beginning of the fasting month. Other countries rely on astronomical calculations.

The International Astronomy Center said in a statement on its website that the countries of the Islamic world will observe the crescent moon of the month of Ramadan for the year 1446 AH on Friday, February 28, 2025.
