She and the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday strongly rejected statements by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and a trend towards civil war in Turkey and interference in regional affairs, calling for al-Maliki to move away from policies that aggravate tensions in Iraq.
The ministry issued a statement in response to Maliki’s comments, which he called his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan not to interfere in the internal affairs of Iraq, and to interest in addressing the situation of internal Turkey expressed concern «trend towards civil war on sectarian and national backgrounds.
Erdogan had accused the previous statements by al-Maliki to push Iraq toward civil war, and of shirking conventions Turkish – Iraqi.
