US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran had wasted “too much time” negotiating to reach a comprehensive peace agreement with America in the region.
Trump said in press statements that if the agreement had been reached, it “would have brought great gains to Iran, but now it will have to pay the price” for what he described as stalling and procrastination.
He added that Iran has become “talkative without action,” and that the era of “the bully of the Middle East is completely over,” noting that the Iranian army is experiencing widespread chaos and confusion, and that many of its components, such as the naval and air forces, no longer exist.
Trump’s remarks come as Washington assesses the results of the military conflict that erupted between America and Israel on one side and Iran on the other in late February and lasted for 40 days. In contrast, Tehran often downplays the accuracy of these American assessments, stressing the ability of its armed forces to respond and maintain their readiness.
