Trump Plans to End Daylight Saving Time: Costly to Our Nation

Shafaq News/ US President-elect Donald Trump revealed on Saturday that the Republican Party will work to cancel the “costly daylight saving time for our nation.”
Trump wrote on his Truth Social account on Friday: “The Republican Party will do everything in its power to eliminate Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient and very costly to our nation.”
The clock is moved forward one hour in the spring and back one hour in the fall in the United States, with the aim of maximizing daylight during the summer months, according to the Associated Press, which noted that this measure has long been under scrutiny.
It is noteworthy that the adoption of daylight saving time occurred for the first time during wartime in 1942.
Lawmakers have proposed doing away with the time change altogether, with the most recent attempt, a now-defunct bipartisan bill called the Sunshine Protection Act, proposing to make daylight saving time permanent.
The bill was sponsored by Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Trump’s pick for secretary of state.
