US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the US armed forces are doing “incredible” work, considering the embargo imposed on Iran to be “very strong and effective,” coinciding with the announcement by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard that it had “caught” an American drone submarine in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump added in a speech that Iran will not be able to possess a nuclear weapon, stressing that American efforts have prevented Tehran from getting close to achieving this goal.
In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced in a statement: “This morning, the Revolutionary Guard’s naval forces managed to capture one of the latest smart, unmanned submarines belonging to the US military at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, in a complex operation based on intelligence and operational superiority.”
The statement read: “This unmanned submarine boasts the latest global technologies in the field of submarines, and was delivered to the US Army fleet in 2025.”
He continued: “This submarine is now a prize for the Iranian forces, and pictures of it will be published in the coming hours.”
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced in a statement early Sunday that it had targeted an aircraft carrier and a destroyer belonging to the US military, noting that “the two American warships fled the area of engagement after sustaining damage.”
On Saturday evening, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth issued a warning to Iran, stating that the United States would destroy and sink Iranian oil tankers if Iran fired on US ships.
This escalation on the ground comes at a time of rising tensions in the region between Washington and Tehran, amid an exchange of threats to target commercial and military fleets in vital waterways.
