Trump: “Many” countries will send warships to secure the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that a number of countries intend to send warships in coordination with the United States to ensure the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said that “several countries, especially those affected by any disruption to shipping in the strait, will participate in joint maritime operations with Washington with the aim of keeping the strategic waterway safe for global shipping and energy traffic.”
He added that his country had completely destroyed Iran’s military capabilities, while noting that Tehran was still capable of carrying out limited attacks, such as sending drones, planting sea mines, or launching short-range missiles.
Trump called on several major countries to participate in securing the strait, expressing his hope that China, France, Japan, South Korea and Britain would send warships to contribute to protecting international navigation.
He continued, saying that “the United States will continue to bomb the coasts and target Iranian boats and ships continuously,” stressing that “his country is working to make the Strait of Hormuz safe as soon as possible.”
Earlier, the US Central Command announced that US forces carried out a precision strike last night on Iran’s Kharg Island.
