US President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that the Iranian regime had asked the United States to cease fire.
Trump said in a post on the “Tharwat Social” platform that “the new president of the Iranian regime, who is far less extreme and much smarter than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a ceasefire.”
He added: “We will consider that when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and safe, and until then, we will bomb Iran and completely destroy it, or as they say, return it to the Stone Age,” he said.
Meanwhile, Trump explained, during an interview with Reuters, that “the United States will withdraw from Iran very quickly and may return to launch targeted strikes if necessary.”
He continued, saying, “We have completely changed the Iranian regime,” explaining that “Iran will not possess nuclear weapons, they do not want that, and we will not provide a timetable for withdrawal.”
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a sustained attack on Iran, killing hundreds, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. On March 2, the regional conflict expanded to include Lebanon after Hezbollah joined the confrontation.
