US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that a “new secret weapon” was crucial during the US raid that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Trump added, in statements to American media, that “the mysterious weapon disabled enemy equipment in Venezuela, and was unable to launch its missiles,” without revealing the nature of this weapon or its technical details.
He noted that the United States “seized Venezuelan oil through seven tankers that were recently confiscated.”
In another context, Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods and products if Canada makes a deal with China.
Trump’s statement comes in the context of a US military operation carried out in Caracas in early January, which resulted in the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his transfer to New York, where he faces charges related to drug trafficking.
Trump had previously indicated in an interview with News Nation that “we have weapons that no one knows about. We don’t want anyone else to have them. I think it’s better not to talk about it, but we have amazing weapons.”
