A security source in Anbar province revealed on Tuesday that US forces have transferred a large number of their troops stationed in Kuwait to Ain al-Asad base in western Anbar.
The source told Al-Maalouma, “The Ain al-Assad air base in the al-Baghdadi area of Hit district, west of Anbar, witnessed the arrival of large numbers of US soldiers coming from Kuwait, without knowing the true motives behind this unexpected move.”
He added, “US forces have transferred large numbers of their soldiers from Kuwait to the Ain al-Asad base, in addition to moving other forces from neighbouring countries to increase the momentum of their forces at the al-Asad and al-Tanf bases in Syria.”
He explained that “the number of US forces has increased to an unprecedented level, with expectations that more troops will arrive in the coming days, without knowing the true reasons behind this measure.”
He stressed that “the security leaders overseeing the security file in the western sector do not have any information about the reasons for the American mobilization.”
