Shafaq News/ Toyota ranked first in car sales in Iraq in 2024, followed by Kia in second place and Hyundai in third place.
Focus 2 Move stated in a report reviewed by Shafaq News Agency that “the cumulative data for the year 2024 in terms of brand was Toyota, which was the leader with an increase of one position – which grew by 35.9%, Kia came in second place, with an increase of 12.7%, while Hyundai ranked third with a growth rate of 36.2%.
“MG showed little or no growth, up 0.8%, while Suzuki, in fifth place, had one of the biggest gains in the top 10, up 120.9%,” she added.
The company indicated that “the Toyota Hilux was the best-selling vehicle, gaining 49.1% in sales on an annual basis, followed by the Kia Frontier vehicle.”
Regarding electric cars, she explained that “the electric car market in Iraq recorded a 164% increase in 2024, reaching 2.42% of total car sales, and although the share is still small, the country is expected to move towards reducing dependence on fossil fuels.”
She pointed out that “Toyota dominated the electric car sector, capturing more than 90% of electric car sales, far ahead of Lexus and Land Rover.”
