The head of the United Nations mission in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, is scheduled to deliver her final briefing at the UN Security Council meeting today, Thursday, May, via television, and then leave Iraq permanently, thus concluding her missions that began in January 2018.
It is also scheduled that the mission “will be closed at the request of an Iraqi, with the resident coordinator for the work of the United Nations remaining. The closure will include the elections, political affairs and human rights departments, and Jeanine Plasschaert will leave Iraq today.”
