An informed political source revealed, on Saturday, the determination of the Sunni political forces from the Azm and Anbar coalitions, the popular movement and other forces to meet this evening in Baghdad to coordinate parliamentary efforts to overthrow Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi.
A source said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “Since the evening of the day before yesterday, the Sunni political forces began to move in order to prevent Muhammad al-Halbousi with the decision, to appoint heads of independent bodies and sovereign positions close to him, and to devote power in favor of the next parliamentary session.”
The source added, “A meeting will be held this evening at the house of the head of the Azm Alliance, Muthanna al-Samarrai, with Sunni leaders to discuss the repercussions of turning the Sunni table and ending the assignment of Othman al-Juhaishi, the leader in Azm, to head the endowment, in conjunction with the assignment of a figure close to al-Halbousi to head the position of the Sunni religious leader.”
He pointed out that “the meeting will discuss what can be mobilized in parliament and open channels of communication with allied parliamentary forces in order to declare an opposition front whose goal is to end the presence of Al-Halbousi from the presidency of the Council.”
The Anbar Popular Movement was one of the components of the Unified Anbar Alliance. It was considered earlier that raising the file of the absentees by the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, was an attempt to get rid of the political stranglehold and remove him from the presidency of Parliament.
