MP Hadi Al-Salami revealed on Friday that there are three reasons preventing the budget amendment from proceeding within the House of Representatives.
Al-Salami said in an interview with Al-Maalouma that “the budget amendment project is a matter of great importance, and we have been dealing with it with interest for weeks,” noting that “there are three main reasons that prompt us not to support it, the most prominent of which is that it represents a violation of Article 62, first, of the Constitution, in addition to its violation of the Financial Management Law No. 6 of 2019, Article 11, as well as its conflict with Article 77, second, of the Triennial Budget Law No. 13 of 2023.”
He added that “the rejection of the amendment comes from the concern for justice in the distribution of financial resources, and preventing waste through suspicious paths,” noting that “proceeding with these amendments will lead to the depletion of the budget by billions of dollars during the coming period.”
It is noteworthy that dozens of members of the House of Representatives broke the quorum during the budget amendment session more than a week ago, due to their objection to the proposed amendments.
