Today, Monday, the State of Law coalition revealed the date for submitting the cabinet of the designate to the prime minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, while specifying the number of ministries that the Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish component will receive.
In an interview with the Information Agency, coalition MP Jassem Al-Atwani said, “Next Thursday, October 27, will be a deadline for the person in charge of forming the government, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, to present the cabinet to the House of Representatives.”
He added, “The division of ministries into political blocs will be done according to the political custom in force in forming the government, and is represented by the number of points, given that each political party has parliamentary points, for example, as the state of law has 45 deputies, this part will be calculated within the total members of the House of Representatives, which is represented by 322 deputies. The distribution of benefits according to this custom.
The deputy from al-Maliki’s coalition explained that “there are other shares obtained by the political blocs, which are the positions of general managers and advisers, and this nature constitutes the political process.”
And Al-Atwani said, “The Shiite component will get 11 ministerial portfolios, while the Kurds and Sunnis will get 50 percent, i.e. from 5-6 ministerial portfolios.”
He noted that “the names nominated for the ministries submitted by the political blocs will remain with the person in charge of forming the government, to confirm the biography, competence, professionalism, and the ability to manage the file nominated for him, and he can refuse or accept.”
Earlier, the President of the Republic, Abdel Latif Rashid, assigned the candidate of the largest parliamentary bloc, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, to choose the government cabinet and present it to the House of Representatives within a period of 30 days.
