A responsible source in Anbar province revealed on Wednesday that a “secret and surprise” meeting was held between Mohammed al-Halbousi, head of the Progress Alliance, and the US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad. The source noted that the meeting took place away from the spotlight and that its details were not revealed, amid regional developments and controversial US moves.
The source told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “Mohammed al-Halbousi met unexpectedly with the US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad during an unannounced visit, despite the fact that he currently holds no official position, which raises questions about the motives behind the meeting and its sensitive timing.”
He added, “The meeting took place in an atmosphere of complete secrecy, and no official statement was issued by either party regarding the content of the discussions that took place, amid information indicating unannounced American preparations to carry out military operations inside Iraq, in coordination with the Zionist entity.”
The source pointed out that “the timing of the meeting raises many questions, especially since it coincided with Israeli missile attacks on Iran, and amid escalating controversy over violations of Iraqi airspace by the Zionist occupation’s air force,” indicating that “the meeting was held in haste and ended without a statement, which increases the ambiguity surrounding it.”
