The US military announced on Monday that US forces had carried out attacks targeting radar systems and drone control sites in southern Iran.
The Central Command (CENTCOM) stated via the “X” platform: “The US Central Command conducted defensive strikes against radar systems and drone control sites in Goruk and Qeshm Island this weekend.”
She added that the strikes were in response to the downing of an American MQ-1 drone that was flying over international waters, adding that the strikes, which were deliberate and planned, were carried out on Saturday and Sunday.
According to a statement from CENTCOM, US fighter jets quickly responded by destroying Iranian air defense systems, a ground control station, and two attack drones that posed clear threats to ships passing through territorial waters.
Central Command confirmed that none of the American forces were harmed, and that it will continue to protect American assets and interests in response to unjustified Iranian aggression, while the current ceasefire remains in effect.
