The Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Friday that Iranian forces captured an F-35 fighter jet pilot after his aircraft was shot down. The agency stated that Iranian security forces detained the pilot, who was flying an F-35 fighter jet, after it was downed by Iranian air defense systems inside Iranian territory. It also noted that “American helicopters conducted searches for the American pilot before withdrawing after Iranian defenses were activated.”
Iran announced earlier on Friday that it had shot down a U.S. F-35 fighter jet in Markazi province in central Iran, the second such incident during the war.
