Member of the House of Representatives, Zahra Al-Bajari, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the initial work stages of the Grand Al-Faw Port have reached high levels of completion, while she confirmed that the first stage of the project is the completion of five berths of the port.

Al-Bajari said in an interview with the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “The work schedule on the Al-Faw Grand Port project indicates advanced stages in the completion of the first stages of the port,” adding that “the percentage announced by the ports operating in the stages of Al-Faw Port’s work will be audited.”

She continued, “Completing all stages of the port will constitute a major economic addition to the country in the navigational movement and global maritime transport,” noting that “the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee is following up on the percentage that the ports announced of pushing forward the completion of the port during the next near stage.”

She added, “Regardless of the technical and quality matters with which the Korean company works, great progress has been observed in the work during the current government,” noting that “the initial completion stages of the Grand Faw Port have reached a high percentage of work.”

Yesterday, the General Company for Ports docked the first commercial ship on an experimental basis at the docks where the completion stages have reached advanced levels, amid a clear effort by the government to complete the first phase in order to activate work in the port, whose role will be pivotal in global trade and global maritime transport.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed that “the government has developed solutions to all obstacles and technical problems in order to implement the project with the best specifications, and that there are negotiations with major international companies to manage the project.”
