Thaer al-Jubouri, a member of the Parliamentary Regions Committee, confirmed on Thursday that his committee has decided to host the Ministers of Finance and Planning to discuss important issues related to the 2025 budget and the disbursement of governorate dues.
Al-Jubouri told Al-Maalouma, “The Regions Committee has decided to host both the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Planning during the upcoming sessions, to discuss the reasons for the delay in submitting the 2025 budget schedules, and the measures required to expedite the disbursement of governorate dues.”
He added, “The hosting also aims to discuss mechanisms for resuming stalled projects and preventing their demise, as well as ensuring the continuation of work on vital projects and the fair distribution of entitlements among governorates.”
Al-Jubouri pointed out that “there is growing concern about the delays in the schedules, which have negatively impacted the work of local governments and disrupted the plans of various ministries and institutions.”
It’s worth noting that the 2025 budget schedules were expected to arrive at the beginning of this year, but they have yet to arrive, negatively impacting governorate budgets and the entitlements of ministries, agencies, and institutions.
