The Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company, Farhan Al-Fartousi, stated on Sunday that the Grand Faw Port projects will be 100% completed by the end of this year, noting that work is proceeding in parallel with another track represented by drawing up an expansion policy for the port. Al-Fartousi told the official agency that “the Ports Company is also working to finalize the contracting file with partners in the management and operation of Faw Port,” indicating that “the official partner in management and operation will be announced within the next few months, as part of a dual approach that ensures integration between management and operation.”
He added, “The project is attracting significant international and regional interest, as it represents a new gateway to a global supply chain through which logistics routes will be rerouted via Iraq’s new economic project, extending from the port of Faw all the way to Europe and the Mediterranean via the development road.”
Al-Fartousi emphasized that “the Faw Port is no longer a simple or regional project, but rather a strategic international project that will transform global production chains.” He explained that “this global interest reflects the importance of investing in the project, amidst a broad international push for strong investments and tangible economic returns.”
He noted that “the investment environment in Iraq has become attractive, prompting many countries to visit Iraq with the aim of engaging in successful investments, especially in light of the clarity of the marketing and economic policies being drawn up by the Iraqi government for its major strategic projects.”
