Parliamentary Finance Committee member Mustafa Al-Karawi accused the federal government on Sunday of deliberately delaying the submission of the 2025 budget schedules, pointing to legal and constitutional violations resulting from this delay.

Al-Karawi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “Article 77/Second of the Triennial Federal Budget Law requires the Council of Ministers to send budget tables before the end of the fiscal year, stressing that ignoring this text is a clear violation.”

He added, “The government bears responsibility for the disruption of most financial and operational activities, as well as the delay in employees’ entitlements to bonuses and promotions, due to the failure to submit schedules on time.”

Al-Karawi pointed out that “the House of Representatives had voted on the three-year budget on the condition that the government commit to submitting the schedules by the legal deadline, noting that the continuation of this delay constitutes a breach of the government’s obligations towards the legislative authority.”
