The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, confirmed on Friday that the results of the investigation into the targeting of the Kormor field will be revealed within 72 hours. He indicated that the investigative committee is conducting a field investigation in the Kormor field. Al-Nu’man told the official agency that “the investigative committee, which the Prime Minister directed to be formed, is conducting a field investigation in the Kormor field to determine the circumstances of the incident,” noting that “the committee began its work immediately.”
He also explained that “the results of the investigation will appear within 72 hours after determining the causes of the incident and the parties responsible for it,” noting that “the committee is headed by Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari and includes the head of the National Intelligence Service and the Interior Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, with support from the international coalition, and a technical committee that includes the competent authorities in the Joint Operations Command; to investigate this act, uncover those involved in it and the parties that support them, and hold them accountable according to the law.”
Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, had directed on Thursday the formation of an investigative committee regarding the targeting of the Kormor oil field in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.
