The head of the political body of the National Tribal Movement, Abdul Rahman Al-Jazaeri, confirmed that the chances of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani obtaining a second term have become almost non-existent, indicating that the government’s performance during the current stage has plunged Iraq into a spiral of complex crises at the political, economic and service levels.

Al-Jazaeri told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the Sudanese government has plunged Iraq into what can be described as ‘Joseph’s well,’ as a result of the accumulation of crises and its failure to provide real solutions to sensitive issues, most notably the living conditions, unemployment, and the decline in public confidence in the political process.”

He added that “the Popular Mobilization Forces Law, which is one of the pivotal laws for regulating the status of an official institution that has contributed decisively to protecting the country, was clearly obstructed during the era of the Sudanese government, despite the urgent need to pass it to guarantee the legal and administrative rights of the Popular Mobilization Forces members.”

Al-Jazairi pointed out that “talking about awarding peace prizes to controversial international figures is a belittling of the sacrifices of the people,” stressing that “the Popular Mobilization Forces are more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize, as they played a pivotal role in defeating terrorism, protecting social peace, and preventing the collapse of the Iraqi state.”

The Algerian concluded by emphasizing that “the next phase will witness significant political changes, given the escalating public anger and the widening gap between the government and the street, making any bet on renewing al-Sudani’s term unrealistic in the current landscape.”
