The National Coalition denied on Thursday the death of its leader, Ayad Allawi, after news of his death circulated on social media.
The coalition’s media office stated in a statement received by Al-Maalomah that “some websites and social media pages have circulated incorrect news about the death of the leader of the National Coalition, Dr. Ayad Allawi.”
He confirmed that “Allawi is in good health and there is no truth to the rumors being circulated; they are nothing but baseless news aimed at undermining national symbols.”
The National Coalition called on media outlets and social media users to be accurate, adhere to professional responsibility, rely on official sources for news, and avoid being swayed by rumors intended to mislead and create confusion.
