The Ministry of Transport announced a complete suspension of air traffic at all Iraqi airports and the temporary closure of Iraqi airspace, to ensure the safety of passengers amidst regional security tensions. A statement from the ministry’s media office stated, “Due to regional tensions, Iraqi air navigation and airspace have been suspended until further notice, in order to preserve the safety of civil aviation in Iraqi airspace.”
He added, “The General Company for Air Navigation Services has begun gradually clearing Iraqi airspace of incoming, outgoing, and transiting aircraft, in order to preserve the safety of passengers arriving at Iraqi airports as well as aircraft crossing our airspace.”
