The Ministry of Transport announced, on Monday, the main topics of the fifth technical meeting of the Development Road Project, while indicating that the project represents the most important element for attracting investments. The Director of the Iraqi Ports Company, Farhan Al-Fartousi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry of Transport is holding the fifth technical meeting based on the quadripartite memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE.”
He also explained that “the meeting will discuss the most important findings of the consulting firms and the Iraqi technical team regarding the completion rates of the final designs for the development road project, as well as the latest developments related to the implementation mechanism.”
He added, “The meeting will also address governance and the project’s implementation mechanism through the private, government-owned implementing company, in cooperation with the Project Implementation Authority, which will issue the necessary laws and instructions to facilitate implementation and eliminate bureaucracy.”
He also emphasized that “the governance mechanism will enhance the role of the private sector in managing the project with high flexibility, which will contribute to attracting investors and ensuring their commitments to Iraq, by presenting investment opportunities in a clear and easy manner.” He noted that “a clear vision for this major economic project represents the most important element in attracting investment and gives investors the ability to deal with opportunities easily.”
