The Ministry of Industry announces the restart of the first urea fertilizer production line with a capacity of 1000 tons per dayThe Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced on Monday the resumption of operations of the first urea fertilizer production line with a capacity of 1,000 tons per day. The ministry stated in a statement that “the Southern Fertilizer Company, one of the formations of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has resumed operations of the first urea fertilizer production line with a capacity of 1,000 tons per day, after a three-month hiatus due to significant changes in the quality and specifications of Shatt al-Arab water, which is the primary source of raw industrial water for the company’s production processes.”

He added, “The resumption of operations came with the direct support and follow-up of the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, and with intensive efforts exerted by technical and engineering personnel. Coordination was made with the Ministry of Water Resources/General Authority for Groundwater to obtain official approvals to use well water as an alternative source of raw water, after treating it according to approved industrial standards.”

The statement also affirmed “the ministry’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and securing the local market’s needs for fertilizers.”
