The Kurdistan Union reveals the main reason for delaying the adoption of the oil and gas lawA member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Sherzad Abdul Samad, said that the Kurdish delegation negotiating in Baghdad represents only the Democratic Party, while he indicated that “suspicions of corruption and political agreements” obstructed the adoption of the oil and gas law.

Abdul Samad said, in a press interview, that “the Kurdish delegation negotiating in Baghdad does not represent all the parties in the Kurdistan region, but is controlled by the Democratic Party, meaning that it is a partisan delegation.”

He added, “The oil and gas law was supposed to be enacted in previous sessions, but suspicions of corruption, alliances and political agreements prevented its enactment, which negatively affected the region’s reputation on the one hand, and became a major problem between Baghdad and Erbil and directly affects any agreement between the two parties on the one hand.” other”.

About three days ago, political sources reported the arrival of a Kurdish delegation representing the Kurdistan Regional Government to Baghdad to negotiate outstanding issues between the two parties.

Previously, a statement was made by the Chief of Staff of the Council of Ministers of the region, Omid Sabah, in which he said, “With the aim of continuing the meetings between Erbil and the center, we will visit Baghdad as a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government, in order to negotiate outstanding issues between the two sides.”

Negotiations are continuing between Baghdad and Erbil regarding reaching an agreed-upon formula for the oil and gas law, which extends for 16 years without reaching the age of legislation.
