Today, Saturday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party denied relinquishing the presidency, while revealing its candidate for the presidency.
Party member Mahdi Abdul Karim said in a press interview that “there is no truth to the reports that the Kurdistan Democratic Party has relinquished the position of the presidency of the republic,” noting that “there are dialogues and meetings conducted by the personalities of the National Union of Massoud Barzani to resolve the “problem” of the position of the presidency.”
Abdul Karim added, “Our only candidate in the Kurdistan Democratic Party for the presidency is Hoshyar Zebari,” pointing out that “there are understandings and dialogues between the two parties in the region to resolve this issue.”
