Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Parliament recommended, on Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, who is visiting Washington, to complete the implementation of the strategic framework agreement in the fields of energy and investments.
. The Council said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “The House of Representatives and the people’s representatives view with high confidence the high-level Iraqi delegation visiting the United States these days, headed by the Prime Minister, and affirm its support for the government efforts that seek to achieve the interests, sovereignty and prosperity of the people.”
The House of Representatives recommended that the Iraqi delegation emphasize completing the implementation of the strategic framework agreement that the House of Representatives voted on 13 years ago, especially in the areas of development, scientific exchange, investments, and energy.
He concluded his statement by saying, “We all hope that the Iraqi people will see positive results that will increase the pace of security and prosperity.”
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani is on a visit to the American capital, Washington, where he is scheduled to meet today with President Joe Biden, in addition to the Ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Treasury, the National Security Advisor, and a number of American officials.
Earlier today, Monday, the state administration coalition forming the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani expressed its hope that al-Sudani’s visit to Washington would witness “an activation of the strategic framework agreement, especially with regard to energy, development, scientific exchange, and investments.”
The Strategic Framework Agreement is a security agreement signed between the Government of Iraq and the United States in 2008. This agreement includes defining the main provisions and requirements that regulate the temporary presence of US military forces in Iraq, their activities there, and their withdrawal from Iraq.
