On Sunday, the investigating judge of the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court announced the seizure of 27 billion Iraqi dinars in the case of the detained Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Liquidation Affairs, Adnan al-Jumaili, and the parties involved with him.
The judge in charge said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that as a result of the careful follow-up to seize the financial proceeds resulting from the waste in the projects implemented by the accused and the parties to the case, this amount, which was hidden with a number of people, was seized.
He added that investigations are ongoing to reach all those involved.
It is noted that the case of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refining Affairs, Adnan al-Jumaili, has been ongoing for more than a month, and has affected deputies and officials who were arrested in various areas of Baghdad, including the Green Zone, as part of what was called “Operation Dawn.” Billions of Iraqi dinars, millions of dollars, jewelry, and gold bullion were subsequently seized in the homes and farms of Iraqi officials and politicians. Meanwhile, the judiciary and the Integrity Commission vow to continue arresting those accused of corruption cases as part of a campaign launched by Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi for this purpose.
