The Council of Ministers voted unanimously in its session held today, Tuesday, to set the tenth of next October as the date for holding early elections instead of the sixth of June.
During the session, the council hosted the head and members of the Independent High Electoral Commission, according to a government statement.
The statement said that the decision came after studying a proposal submitted by the Electoral Commission to the Council of Ministers, which includes important technical reasons, which would ensure the integrity of the elections and equal opportunities for everyone to run in the elections freely and fairly.
The statement added that the council affirmed continuing its support for the commission and overcoming all obstacles facing its work.
