The Iraqi government distances itself from pages and accounts that heap excessive praise on it and Al-SudaniShafaq News/ The media office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani denied, on Thursday, its connection to media pages and accounts on social media that show excessive praise for the Iraqi government and al-Sudani.

The office said in a statement today, “It has been noted recently that media pages and accounts on social media, of various types, have appeared, claiming to be related to the government, and deliberately showing exaggerated and excessive praise for the government and the person of the Prime Minister, in repulsive ways that aim to undermine trust with the citizen.”

The statement added, “We confirm here that there is no connection between the Prime Minister’s media office and this suspicious performance, with its clear purposes and motives in its attempt to mislead the public, nor with those behind it from parties and circles that were harmed by the steps to combat corruption, and what was achieved in the field of services, reform and economic development.”

The statement continued by saying, “The government is still working to achieve its goals, and is continuing to complete its development and reform projects, and that the method of writing praises is not part of its policies at any stage, and that this approach harms it and its team, especially since the work being provided is its duty and falls within the core of its responsibilities.”

In its statement, the office called on “citizens to distinguish the irresponsible purposes behind these pages and what they publish, while the competent authorities will pursue these platforms with the same determination and care that they exert in pursuing platforms that violate the law and harm societal peace.”
