Currency prices in the Iranian market continued their sharp rise, with the dollar exceeding 165,100 tomans amid escalating speculation about the increased likelihood of a US attack against Tehran.

In contrast, the price of the euro also rose to more than 194,000 tomans, and the price of the British pound to more than 222,000 tomans.

The dollar had previously set a record high on February 11, exceeding 163,000 tomans on the Tehran free market. This situation, coupled with the exorbitant rise in prices, led to a wave of protests in Iran.

On the other hand, the Iranian Statistics Center announced that it had recorded the highest inflation rate in January since its establishment.

According to the report, the point inflation rate (compared to the same month of the previous year) reached an unprecedented figure of 60 percent.

The center explained that the consumer price index for Iranian households reached 469.4 points, recording an increase of 7.9 percent compared to the previous month, 60 percent compared to January of last year, and 44.6 percent during the past twelve months.
