Foreign currency prices in Iran continued their upward trend, with the US dollar reaching a record high of more than 136,000 tomans.
According to reports from currency price tracking websites, the dollar rose by about 0.26 percent on Wednesday compared to the previous day.
On the same day, the euro traded up nearly 1.7 percent compared to Monday, at around 158.390 tomans.
The price of the British pound reached 181,470 tomans and the Turkish lira reached 3,135 tomans.
Over a period of approximately three weeks, since December 1, the dollar has risen by about 12.5 percent.
Over the past few weeks, an upward wave has swept through the currency and gold markets, and with successive record highs being recorded, a new path of rising prices has been charted.
In recent months, inflation in Iran and rising foreign currency prices have increased concerns about the deteriorating economic situation in Iran.
This trend intensified following the return of UN sanctions and the insistence of Iranian regime officials on continuing the nuclear program.
Over the past year, food prices in Iran have risen, on average, by more than 66 percent.
