The Iranian toman continued its decline against the dollar on Monday, recording more than 124,000 tomans.
According to reports from currency price tracking websites, the Toman traded at 124.800 against the dollar, 145.450 against the euro, and 166.500 against the British pound.
The toman was trading at 122,150 against the dollar two days ago, after breaking the 120,000 toman barrier, continuing its accelerated decline in recent days.
In recent weeks, a bullish wave has swept through Iran’s financial markets, currencies, and gold, setting successive record highs and paving the way for a new price surge.
In recent months, runaway inflation and rising foreign currency prices have increased concerns about the worsening economic situation in Iran, a trend reinforced by the return of UN sanctions and confirmation by Iranian regime officials that the nuclear program is continuing.
Over the past year, food prices in Iran have risen by more than 66 percent.
