International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi commented on Wednesday on Tehran’s decision not to engage with the agency, stressing that the international community will not accept a halt to inspections of Iranian nuclear sites.
Grossi said, in statements reported by the Russia Today website and followed by Shafaq News Agency, that “the continuation of inspections at Iranian nuclear facilities is of paramount importance, and we may make efforts in Vienna to re-engage with Iran.”
He pointed out that “the current inspection mechanism for Iranian nuclear sites is currently suspended,” explaining that “Iran had previously stated that it had taken precautionary measures regarding its stockpile of enriched uranium.”
Iranian media reported earlier on Wednesday that the Iranian parliament approved a bill suspending Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
