On Sunday, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, renewed his condemnation and denunciation of Iran’s continued attacks on the GCC countries, stressing that they violate international law and norms.
Al-Badawi said in press statements that “the GCC countries retain their full right, guaranteed under Article (51) of the Charter of the United Nations and the provisions of international law, to take the necessary measures and procedures to protect their security and stability, preserve their capabilities and wealth, and respond to these attacks.”
He added that “the continuation of these attacks clearly reveals the escalating approach of the Iranian government towards the GCC countries, and is an unacceptable act of aggression that undermines de-escalation efforts and threatens regional and international security,” stressing that “the Iranian claims that attempt to hold the GCC countries responsible for any military operations are false and categorically rejected, and are not based on any truth.”
Al-Badawi pointed out that “the GCC countries pursue well-established policies based on respecting the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and promoting security and peace, regionally and internationally.”
The Secretary-General called on the international community to “assume its responsibilities in condemning these attacks, taking a firm and deterrent stance, and working to push Iran to comply immediately with Security Council Resolution (2817) of 2026, in order to stop these violations and maintain the stability of the region.”
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard issued a warning last night, Saturday, calling for the evacuation of the Qatari capital, Doha, in a second such move, following a similar call for the evacuation of residents of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.
This comes at a time when Iran is facing American and Israeli military attacks for the fourth week in a row, after it turned from a direct confrontation between Tehran and Tel Aviv into an open regional clash whose repercussions have extended to Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and the Gulf.
