Former member of the Integrity Committee, Youssef Al-Kalabi, revealed, on Thursday, the developments in the investigation with the first accused of stealing tax money, Nour Zuhair, indicating that Zuhair is paving the way for his release from prison due to lack of evidence.
Al-Kalabi said in an interview that “the main suspect in the theft of the century, Nour Zuhair, answered the questions of the interrogators that there was not enough evidence to convict him or official signatures in his name regarding the withdrawal of stolen money from tax coffers,” stressing that “this procedure may pave the way for his release from prison, since thieves are most of the time.” They don’t sign their names directly.”
He added, “Most of the ministers of Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s government were involved in corruption deals, but they did not sign, but by granting authorizations to general directors in exchange for sufficient funds in order to get out of office without being convicted of any theft crime.”
Al-Kalabi pointed out that “fighting corruption needs to assign the head of the Integrity Commission authentically and isolate him from the influence of the director of the prime minister’s office or any state employee in the event that any file is opened, and it must continue until it is completed without pressure.”
