The Federal Court issues a state order to stop and block all pornographic websites in Iraq

Shafaq News/ On Thursday, the Federal Supreme Court issued a state order to block pornographic websites in all of the Republic of Iraq.
The ruling was issued based on the request submitted by the representative in the Iraqi Parliament, Bassem Khazal Khashan, the plaintiff in the lawsuit No. (325 / Federal / 2023), which included his request to issue a state order to block pornographic websites until the aforementioned lawsuit is decided.
The Federal Supreme Court stated in a statement today that the court decided, based on the provisions of Article (39) of the Federal Supreme Court’s internal regulations No. (1) of 2022, to rule obligating both the Minister of Communications and the Chairman of the Communications and Media Authority, in addition to their duties, to stop and block all pornographic websites throughout the world. The Republic of Iraq, a state order binding on all authorities and issued by agreement.
The Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, directed the end of 2022 to block pornographic websites in Iraq, and the decision was welcomed by popular, political, Islamic, and religious circles.
The decision came days after a decision by the Ministry of Transportation in the Kurdistan Regional Government to ban “pornographic” websites.
In September 2015, the Iraqi Parliament voted in favor of a decision requiring the Ministry of Communications to block pornographic websites on the Internet, but the decision was not fully implemented.
It is noteworthy that all websites in Iraq became open after 2003, after the regime of the late President Saddam Hussein had blocked many of them.
