The dollar surpasses 211000 Iranian tomans raising fears of new US sanctionsShafaq News – Tehran
The US dollar continued its rise in the Iranian free market, exceeding the level of 211,000 tomans, compared to about 200,000 tomans last week, amid continued pressure on the Iranian currency and escalating fears of tightening US sanctions and disruption of external payment channels.

According to the latest prices, the euro reached about 245,000 tomans, while the British pound recorded about 285,000 tomans, at a time when the Iranian rial is facing increasing pressure as a result of rising demand for foreign currencies and declining access to international financial channels.

These developments come as economic pressures on Iran continue, as the weakness of the local currency leads to an increase in the cost of imports, raw materials and basic commodities, adding new pressure on inflation rates and the purchasing power of citizens.

The dollar was trading at around 95,800 tomans during the same period last year, meaning that the Iranian currency lost more than half its value against the dollar in one year.
