Shafaq News/ The death toll from the explosion at Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, has risen to 516, according to Iranian media reports.
For its part, Iranian television reported, in a report seen by Shafaq News Agency, that explosions continued at Shahid Rajaee Port, confirming that there had been no other explosion as reported in some media outlets.
In turn, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported that “the explosion at Rajaee Port occurred in a sulfur storage area.”
A short while ago, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported a major explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran. The agency said the blast occurred in port offices.
A Tasnim correspondent said that a fuel tank at Shahid Rajaee Port exploded for an unknown reason, and rapid response teams were immediately dispatched to the area.
Local Iranian media reported that the explosion was so powerful that it shook the ground and was heard in nearby cities. The blast also shattered windows in buildings several kilometers away from the port.
