The Secretary-General of the Popular Movement for Reform in Anbar, Dhari Al-Dulaimi, confirmed the defection of seven representatives from the Taqadum Party headed by Muhammad Al-Halbousi and joining the new Sunni alliance.
Al-Dulaimi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The head of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khamis Al-Khanjar, decided to form a tripartite alliance with Al-Azm and Decide to establish a Sunni parliamentary lobby and take over the position of Speaker of Parliament.”
He added, “The recent Khanjar movement caused seven representatives from the Taqaddam Party to defect and join the new political project.”
He explained that “the political differences will be great during the next few days due to the conflict over the position of presidency of Parliament, as well as the formation of provincial councils and the distribution of special grades.”
The leader of the United Anbar Alliance, Abdul Wahab Al-Bilawi, described the escalation of disputes between the forces of the Sunni component as a “childish period,” while stressing that the previous government was supportive of these figures who are now competing for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
