Political analyst Ibrahim Al-Sarraj said on Sunday that Al-Sudani will not be able to obtain a second term even if he manages to win 100 parliamentary seats in the elections, pointing out that there is a rejection within the framework to renew the term.
Al-Sarraj told Al-Maalouma, “The electoral competition is clear between the various Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish political parties and blocs, and this competition may escalate further to reach an undesirable stage.”
He added, “The Coordination Framework has a strategy for forming the government and drawing the political map after the electoral process is held next month, and therefore there is no problem in the government formation process.” He explained
that “the problem lies in Al-Sudani’s insistence on obtaining a second term, and this will not happen, even if he wins more than 100 parliamentary seats in the elections, as the parties within the Coordination Framework refuse to renew Al-Sudani’s term for a second term.”
