The Central Bank of Iran announced on Sunday that it will begin distributing the 500,000 toman banknote through the banking network starting February 1, 2026, after its printing was completed.
The bank stated in a press release, which was reviewed by the Information Agency, that “the new denomination is equivalent to 5 million rials and will be released on February 1, 2026, after its printing was finalized.”
It indicated that “this step aims to regulate cash circulation, facilitate financial transactions, and expedite cash transactions within banks.” The bank
added that “the new denomination features 11 security features to ensure the integrity of transactions and prevent counterfeiting, as part of the Central Bank’s efforts to modernize the currency and improve banking services in the country.”
