Shafaq News/ The Central Bank of Iraq issued instructions to sell dollars to Iraqi pilgrims to the Holy House of God, setting the exchange rate at (1320) dinars, and limiting the amount of $2000 only.
A document issued by the Central Bank, signed by the acting deputy governor, Ammar Hamad Khalaf, and received by Shafaq News Agency, and confronting the Rafidain, Rashid, Iraqi Trade, Islamic Nasik banks and exchange companies, stated that, “In light of facilitating the procedures for selling dollars to pilgrims to the House of God, we would like to inform you that you have opened your branches in Baghdad and the governorates to receive pilgrims’ requests to purchase dollars allocated to travelers, at an amount of (2000) dollars per pilgrim, according to the official exchange rate of (1320) dinars per dollar.”
He also directed that “sufficient logistical arrangements be made, including the provision of qualified human cadres in the branches designated for selling dollars to pilgrims, in order to facilitate the process of selling dollars, and to rely on the pilgrim manifest issued by the Supreme Hajj and Umrah Commission, which will be reinforced with the validity of electronic QR codes as an alternative to travel tickets, with the necessity of providing the pilgrim’s passport.”
The document continued: “All dollar sales must be exclusively through the Financial Institution Transaction Reporting (FITR) platform, and sales must be recorded with the prevailing documents. All pilgrims must be included in the dollar sales process allocated to travelers by land and air. Applications must be submitted to this bank starting Sunday, May 4, 2025, to obtain dollars according to the procedures.”
