The Central Bank and the World Bank are discussing strengthening institutional governance frameworks for the banking sectorToday, Wednesday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, discussed with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank the strengthening of institutional governance frameworks for the banking sector.
The Central Bank said, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that “Makhaif received today a delegation from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank headed by the Regional Director for the Middle East, Khawaja Aftab Ahmed; they discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and strengthening it, and the projects completed between the Central Bank of Iraq and the institution were reviewed, Including a project to strengthen institutional governance frameworks for the Iraqi banking sector, prepare the regulatory framework for financial leasing activity, as well as the accession of the Central Bank of Iraq to the international sustainability network.

Also, according to the statement, “future projects that include developing the environmental and social aspects of the Iraqi banking sector, and developing the capabilities and expertise of workers in the banking sector, were discussed.”
