The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, on Monday condemned in the strongest terms the Iranian attack that targeted the UAE and Jordan with drones, stressing that the repetition of these attacks represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the two countries and a direct threat to their security and stability.
Al-Yamahi stressed, according to a statement seen by Shafaq News Agency, that the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab countries are indivisible, and any attack on an Arab country represents an attack on the entire Arab national security system.
Al-Yamahi expressed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with the UAE and Jordan, and its support for all measures they take to protect their security, sovereignty, and the safety of their citizens and residents on their territories, stressing their legitimate right to self-defense, in accordance with the UN Charter and the rules of international law.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its legal and political responsibilities, take a firm stance against these attacks, and work to stop them and prevent their recurrence, in order to prevent the escalation from widening and to preserve regional and international peace and security.
Al-Yamahi concluded his statement by saying that the continuation of such attacks would undermine efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, stressing the need to respect the sovereignty of states and not interfere in their internal affairs, and to adhere to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, in order to spare the region further tension and escalation.
