Tehran sets conditions for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Strait of Hormuz Authority announced on Friday that ships would be allowed to pass through the strait under specific conditions.
The authority stated in a statement on the “X” platform that “ships wishing to cross the Strait of Hormuz will be granted the right of passage during the time period announced in the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, provided that the requirements and procedures stipulated for passage are met.”
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council on Thursday set rules for commercial ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that no transit fees would be imposed, and that ships would be secured within their designated routes.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday evening that it had lifted the military blockade imposed on all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, which had been in place since April 13.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced last Monday that an agreement had been reached between Iran and the United States, in a move that ends months of intensive negotiations and regional mediation led by Pakistan and Qatar with the support of a number of countries.
For his part, US President Donald Trump officially announced on his Truth Social page that an agreement had been reached with Iran, stressing that the new understanding achieves his administration’s main goal of ensuring that Tehran does not possess a nuclear weapon.
